Style Star- Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
‘My style is What Makes Me Happy’: When Literature and Fashion Collide
She may be an award winning author with three novels and a short story collection under her belt, but Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie also wants you to know that a ‘smart woman can love fashion’ too, which she announced back in February in a piece she wrote for Elle.com. Adichie also makes clear her love for fashion in her TED talk ‘We Should All Be Feminists’:
"I love embroidery and texture. I love lace and full skirts and cinched waists. I love black, and I love colour. I love heels, and I love flats. I love exquisite detailing. I love shorts and long maxidresses and feminine jackets with puffy sleeves. I love coloured trousers. I love shopping."
And her love for fashion was not left unnoticed as on March 3rd, she was Fashion Bombshell of the Day. Adichie proudly embraces her unique style and boldly shows many women that you can be fashionable and still be taken serious.
So if you love Adichie and her fashion, these have been captured on Chimamanda Style Files since 2011, which has described as ‘fun, non-professional photos of Chimamanda Adichie’s style, taken by family, friends and fans, posted by her team.
